Lament

Be merciful to me, my God,
For my life is not my own.
I look around and see endless work--
My time is utterly consumed,
But there is still much more to be done.
Rest is elusive to my soul--
I try to seek after it every single day,
But it's just another item on my to-do list.
Only You are God over my schedule,
I, obviously, am not.
Grant me strength to finish what I have begun,
And grant me wisdom to simplify in the future.
Throughout the frantic days,
My heart will still praise You--
For Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light.
